Report content
Notice-and-action mechanism under Art. 16 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (Digital Services Act, DSA) for content in the openmatch app and on open-match.com. The German version is the authoritative text; this translation is provided for convenience.
In short:
- You can report any content you consider illegal: profiles, photos, reviews, messages, matches and venue listings.
- With an openmatch account: directly in the app via Report.
- Without an account: by email to support@open-match.com. The mechanism is open to everyone, not only users.
- We confirm receipt, review carefully and tell you our decision.
1. Who can report?
Any individual or entity (Art. 16(1) DSA). You do not need an openmatch account. If you have one, the in-app route is the fastest, because your notice lands directly in our review queue.
2. Reporting in the app
- Open the profile, photo, review, match or venue and tap Report (the three-dot menu or the flag icon).
- Choose the reason, for example harassment, fraud, inappropriate content or copyright infringement.
- Explain why you consider the content illegal (at least 20 characters). For a photo, you report exactly the one image in question.
- Confirm that, to the best of your knowledge, your information is accurate and complete.
You receive an acknowledgement of receipt and, later, our decision as a notification in the app.
3. Reporting by email
Write to support@open-match.com, ideally with the subject Notice of illegal content. Under Art. 16(2) DSA, a notice we can act on has to contain:
- An explanation: why do you consider the content illegal? Name the provision or the right that is infringed where you can.
- The exact location: where is the content? Link or URL, username, venue name, date and time of a message, a screenshot of the photo. The more precise, the faster we find it.
- Your name and email address. Exception: content concerning offences under Arts. 3 to 7 of Directive 2011/93/EU (child sexual abuse) may be reported anonymously.
- A good-faith statement: that you believe the information in the notice is accurate and complete.
If something is missing, we ask for it. An incomplete notice is not ignored, it only delays the review.
Template to copy:
Subject: Notice of illegal content
1. Which content is it about? (link, username, venue, photo, message with date)
2. Why do you consider the content illegal?
3. Your name and email address
4. “I have a good-faith belief that the information and allegations in this notice are accurate and complete.”
4. Copyright, trademarks and other rights
If you report that a photo or other content infringes your copyright, trademark or another right, we additionally need:
- Which work is affected, where possible with a link to the original or a copy.
- Which right you hold: are you the author, the holder of an exclusive licence, or acting as an authorised representative of the rights holder? For a representation, please include proof.
- Which use you object to, for example publication without a licence.
In the app, choose the reason Copyright and enter this information in the rights-holder field.
5. What happens after your notice
- Acknowledgement of receipt without undue delay (Art. 16(4) DSA).
- Review in a timely, diligent, non-arbitrary and objective manner (Art. 16(6) DSA). Our decisions are not taken solely by automated means.
- Decision to you by email or app notification, including information on your possibilities for redress (Art. 16(5) DSA).
- Information to the person concerned: if we remove or disable content, the person who posted it receives a statement of reasons (Art. 17 DSA) and can contest the decision through our internal complaint-handling system (Art. 20 DSA).
Possible measures are removing or disabling the content, a warning and, for serious or repeated violations, suspension of the account.
If there is an immediate danger to life or limb, please contact the police first (emergency number 110 in Germany, 112 across the EU) and only then us.
6. Misuse of the notice mechanism
Where someone repeatedly submits notices that are manifestly unfounded, we stop processing their notices for a reasonable period after a prior warning (Art. 23(2) DSA). Knowingly false notices may also give rise to claims by the person concerned.
7. Point of contact
8. Art. 11 DSA · Point of contact for authorities
Under Art. 11 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (Digital Services Act, DSA) we designate a single point of contact through which the authorities of the Member States, the European Commission and the European Board for Digital Services can communicate with us directly. Communication with this point of contact is possible in German and in English (Art. 11(3) DSA). This point of contact is for authorities only; recipients of the service reach us through the point of contact under Art. 12 DSA.
Further details about the provider are in the Impressum; how we process your data is described in the privacy policy.
